Growing the Economy and Creating Jobs

As a successful small business owner, I’ve created jobs, met a payroll and dealt with the burdensome regulations and taxes. I know firsthand the number one solution to our economic problems is a stronger, more vibrant small business community.  I am proud to promote policies that encourage small business and help those who want to start a small business.  I will work on regulation reform that reduces red tape and helps business grow.  I will fight to keep taxes low.  Over 2 million Tennessee families benefited from the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts that included eliminating the marriage penalty tax and expanding the child tax credit. I know more money in the hands of government is the wrong way to strengthen our struggling economy.  That is why I remain committed to making those tax cuts permanent.

In order to stay competitive with the rest of the world, we must provide a climate where innovators can invent and businesses can grow here at home. Business belongs in the hands of America’s entrepreneurs, not the federal government.

Primary Issues

  • Spending and the Expansion of Government - Federal government spending has gotten out of control and as a result we are saddling our children and future generations with unsustainable amounts of debt.
  • Healthcare - The U.S healthcare system is the best in the world, and it is vital that we not only continue to keep it the best but work to increase access to it so every American can receive the care they need.
  • Energy Independence & Our Environment - The taxes and radical environmental policies of the Democratic leadership are breaking the backs of working families and the businesses that employee them.
