Another 80 Tennessee Jobs Fall Victim to Failed Policies
Murfreesboro, Tennessee - Sixth District Congressional Candidate Lou Ann Zelenik today expressed sympathy for the employees of K & K Trucking Company who lost their jobs this week as the company closed its doors.
"As the politicians in Washington and Nashville bicker, dither and pursue policies that have driven the job creation in our country into the ditch, another 80 families must now find ways to put food on the table and pay the mortgage," Zelenik said. "My heart goes out to those families in Smith County and the owners of the company that was forced to close. As a small business owner who has had to balance the budget and meet the payroll, I understand how difficult it can be when government takes us in the wrong direction. As a member of Congress I will work to return sanity to our budgeting process, eliminate earmarks, get control of irresponsible spending and put government back on the side of hard working Tennesseans. I will always stand with those who are willing to reach for the American dream by starting a business and creating jobs. Our government has punished their efforts long enough."
According to recent statistics, Smith County currently has an unemployment rate exceeding 13% with more than 1,200 Tennesseans seeking work.
