Murfreesboro, Tennessee - Former Rutherford County Republican Party Chairman Lou Ann Zelenik is the first candidate for Congress in Tennessee's Sixth District to sign the "Repeal It" pledge, committing to work for repeal of the Obama/Pelosi takeover of the U.S. health care system if it is passed by the House and Senate.
The pledge, sponsored by the grassroots economic group, Club for Growth states: "I hereby pledge to the people of my district/state upon my election to the U.S. House of Representatives/U.S. Senate, to sponsor and support legislation to repeal any federal health care takeover passed in 2010, and replace it with real reforms that lower health care costs without growing government."
In signing the pledge, Zelenik reaffirmed her commitment to reform that places individual freedom and the free market system above a network of Washington bureaucrats and government control of 1/6 of the U.S. economy.
"Since entering this race to oppose Bart Gordon in October I have consistently advocated true reform that respects the views and values of Tennesseans," Zelenik said. "Congressman Gordon may be leaving Congress, but the threat to our freedoms remains until this bill is killed and buried.
I remain hopeful that Bart Gordon and the other liberals in Congress will hear the voices of their constituents and reject this plan. However if Nancy Pelosi has her way and the government takeover passes, I pledge that I will represent the people of the Sixth District and work to repeal this affront to American liberty."
