Zelenik Statement on Massachusetts Election

Americans Send a Clear Message to Career Politicians

Murfreesboro, Tennessee - Sixth District Congressional Candidate Lou Ann Zelenik issued the following statement in reaction to tonight's victory by Republican Scott Brown in the Massachusetts special election:

"Tonight, in the most unlikely of places, Americans once again rejected the Obama/Pelosi liberal agenda. In electing Scott Brown to the United States Senate, the voters of Massachusetts sent a clear message that back room deals, buying of votes, out of control deficit spending and government control of our health care are not acceptable.

As 2010 begins, the career politicians have been sent a message: get onboard or get out.  In November, all Americans will have the opportunity to add our voices to those in Massachusetts and tell the politicians we want to be represented again. As a member of Congress, representing the people that I am elected to serve is exactly what I will do."

Primary Issues

  • Spending and the Expansion of Government - Federal government spending has gotten out of control and as a result we are saddling our children and future generations with unsustainable amounts of debt.
  • Healthcare - The U.S healthcare system is the best in the world, and it is vital that we not only continue to keep it the best but work to increase access to it so every American can receive the care they need.
  • Energy Independence & Our Environment - The taxes and radical environmental policies of the Democratic leadership are breaking the backs of working families and the businesses that employee them.
