Zelenik Makes it Official, Files Qualifying Papers

Zelenik has filed her qualifying petitions with the Rutherford County Election Commission, and with the Tennessee Secretary of State's office. Zelenik is now officially on the ballot seeking the Republican nomination to fill the seat being vacated by Bart Gordon.

 

 

Murfreesboro---Sixth District Congressional Candidate Lou Ann Zelenik has filed her qualifying petitions with the Rutherford County Election Commission, and with the Tennessee Secretary of State's office. Zelenik is now officially on the ballot seeking the Republican nomination to fill the seat being vacated by Bart Gordon.
 
"This is the first step in returning our government to the people", said Zelenik. "I'm working everyday to meet the voters, listen to them, and assure them that Lou Ann Zelenik will be a congressman that will actually represent their Tennessee values."

Zelenik has actually been campaigning since last fall, and following her announcement that she was going to be a candidate, Gordon quickly announced his retirement. The anger and frustration over the Obama healthcare takeover has fueled a volatile environment for Democrat incumbents.
 
Her campaign manager, Jay Heine, also commented. "For the past three months we have focused our emphasis on grassroots organizing. We have the financial resources to needed to win. Unlike many in Washington today, Lou Ann cannot be bought and has one responsibility and that is to represent the people of Middle Tennessee."
 
Zelenik is a former chair of the Rutherford County Republican Party and a key organizer in the local Tea Party movement. She was the founder and co-owner of L&N Construction Company in Murfreesboro and board member for "A Soldiers Child" which honors the children of fallen soldiers on their birthdays. Lou Ann launched her campaign last fall prompting 13 term congressman Bart Gordon to retire.
