Murfreesboro-- Sixth District Congressional Candidate Lou Ann Zelenik has issued a statement responding to Diane Black's attacks against Lou Ann Zelenik 's experience. Over the weekend, at a Republican event in Springfield, State Senator Diane Black's campaign manager, Anne Pelosi, was quoted as citing Ms. Black's experience as one of her positives claiming Diane Black's experience in the Tennessee Legislature as a major reason to warrant the peoples' votes over Lou Ann's experience in business and the private sector.
Zelenik's campaign manager, Jay Heine, commented, "The last thing Washington needs is Sen. Black's experience in breaking budgets, raising taxes and backdoor deals like TNInvesco. Just last week Ms. Black said she "Drank the Kool-aid" when it came to TNInvesco. Ms. Black is not only knee deep in the TNInvesco scandal, but has the experience of voting on bills she doesn't understand, doesn't read, and has voted to violate the Copeland Cap Amendment on increased government spending. She also has the audacity to say voting to increase fees is ok because they are not 'really taxes'." The TNInvesco issue has been raised because several watchdog groups have cited the secretive nature of putting taxpayer dollars at risk, while hiding how those funds were awarded to only six companies.
Zelenik also commented, " I am running to say no to higher taxes, no to increased debt, no to backroom deals, and yes to taking real conservative Tennessee values to Washington. I am not a professional politician, nor a perpetual office holder. The people of the sixth district are looking for leadership experience not legislative experience. I am the candidate that stood up to Bart Gordon when he pushed his big government takeovers. I sent press releases, forced Bart Gordon into Town hall meetings and launched a radio campaign till he dropped out. That is leadership.
Zelenik is campaigning for the Republican nomination for the congressional seat being vacated by Bart Gordon. She is a former Chair of the Rutherford County Republican Party, and was a key organizer for last year's Tea Party protest, including a rally in Murfreesboro which drew over 3,000 people. She announced her candidacy last fall to take on Gordon, and he announced his retirement shortly thereafter.
Anyone interested in her campaign can go by the headquarters at 416B Medical Center Parkway, Murfreesboro TN, or call (615) 962-7716.
